SAFETY STATEMENT.
We Clean Everything “WCE” is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Employees are expected to follow all company safety procedures, use good judgment, and immediately report unsafe conditions, injuries, or accidents to management.
Failure to follow company safety policies may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
GENERAL SAFETY RULES.
All employees are expected to always work safely.
Employees must:
- Wear closed-toe, non-slip shoes while working
- Use caution on wet floors and place wet floor signs when appropriate
- Use proper lifting techniques
- Keep work areas clean and free from hazards
- Immediately report unsafe conditions or damaged equipment
- Never engage in horseplay, running, or unsafe conduct
- Follow supervisor’s instructions regarding safety procedures
- Use all cleaning equipment properly and safely
- Never allow unauthorized people into secured work areas
Employees must never work under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Smoking is only permitted in designated areas and during authorized breaks.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE).
WCE provides appropriate personal protective equipment when necessary.
Employees may be required to wear:
- Protective gloves
- Safety glasses or eye protection
- Face masks when necessary
- Non-slip footwear
PPE must be worn whenever required by company policy or chemical labeling instructions.
Employees are responsible for:
- Proper use of PPE
- Reporting damaged PPE
- Maintaining PPE in clean condition
CHEMICAL SAFETY / SDS PROGRAM.
Employees must follow all chemical safety procedures.
Employees must:
- Never mix cleaning chemicals
- Read and follow chemical labels
- Use chemicals only as directed
- Keep chemicals properly labeled
- Report spills or leaks immediately
- Wash hands after handling chemicals
- Avoid contact with eyes and skin
Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals used by WCE are always maintained by the company and available to employees.
Employees must immediately notify management if:
- A chemical label is missing
- A chemical container is damaged
- A chemical exposure occurs
BLOODBORNE PATHOGEN / BIOHAZARD POLICY.
Employees may encounter bodily fluids or potentially infectious materials while performing cleaning duties.
Employees must:
- Wear gloves when cleaning bathrooms or handling trash
- Never touch needles or sharp objects directly
- Immediately report any needles or biohazard materials to management
- Use approved disinfectants when cleaning contaminated areas
- Wash hands immediately after removing gloves
- Properly dispose of contaminated materials
If an employee is exposed to blood or bodily fluids:
- Stop working immediately
- Wash exposed area thoroughly
- Notify supervisor immediately
- Seek medical attention if necessary
Eating, drinking, or smoking is prohibited while handling biohazard materials.
SLIP, TRIP, AND FALL PREVENTION.
Employees must use caution to prevent slips, trips, and falls.
Employees must:
- Use wet floor signs whenever floors are wet
- Keep walkways clear
- Avoid running
- Secure cords and hoses properly
- Clean spills immediately
- Use ladders safely
- Wear proper footwear
Employees must never stand on chairs, furniture, or unstable objects.
SAFE LIFTING PROCEDURES.
Employees must use proper lifting techniques.
Employees should:
- Lift with legs, not back
- Avoid twisting while lifting
- Ask for assistance with heavy items
- Use caution when carrying supplies or equipment
Employees should not attempt to lift items that are unsafe or excessively heavy without assistance.
EQUIPMENT SAFETY.
Only trained employees may operate company equipment.
Employees must:
- Inspect equipment before use
- Report damaged equipment immediately
- Never use damaged electrical cords
- Never operate equipment near standing water
- Disconnect equipment before cleaning or servicing
- Follow all manufacturers’ instructions
Employees must not use equipment they are unfamiliar with until properly trained.
VEHICLE SAFETY
Employees operating company vehicles must:
- Maintain a valid driver’s license
- Operate vehicles safely
- Follow traffic laws
- Report accidents immediately
- Keep vehicles clean and secure
Seatbelts must be always worn. Distracted driving, including texting while driving, is prohibited.
FIRE AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES.
In the event of an emergency:
- Remain calm
- Notify supervisor immediately
- Call 911 if necessary
- Evacuate the building if instructed
- Proceed to a safe designated area
Employees should only attempt to use a fire extinguisher if:
- The fire is small
- The employee has been trained
- The employee has a safe exit path
Employees must never block emergency exits.
ACCIDENT AND INJURY REPORTING.
All injuries, accidents, vehicle accidents, customer incidents, and unsafe conditions must be reported immediately to management, regardless of severity.
An incident report may be required.
Failure to report an accident or injury promptly may result in disciplinary action.
SAFETY TRAINING.
All employees will receive safety training during orientation and additional training as needed.
Training may include:
- Chemical safety
- PPE use
- Bloodborne pathogen awareness
- Equipment safety
- Emergency procedures
- Lifting safety
Employees are expected to follow all safety procedures taught during training.
